The school poster "In the Plantin Printing House, Antwerp (1570)" shows the interior of the famous printing house of Christoffel Plantin , an influential printer and publisher in the 16th century. It was an important center of printing in Europe.

Importance: It shows how labor-intensive and artisanal printing was at the time, before the Industrial Revolution.

Historical significance: Plantin's printing house was one of the largest in Europe and was the source of many important publications, including Bibles and scholarly works. His printing house is now a museum: the Plantin-Moretus Museum , a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

School charts were large, colorful illustrations hung in classrooms, especially in the 19th and 20th centuries. They served as visual learning aids to teach children about history, geography, nature, technology, and everyday life in an engaging way.
With the aim of transferring knowledge through images and stories – “seeing is learning”.

These beautiful, unique school posters may show signs of wear and tear. We strive to capture these as accurately as possible in our photos.
