Old school maps β windows into the past
With their detailed drawings and soft colors, old school maps brought the world into the classroom. Whether it was a beech tree, a world map, or the human body β these artistically designed teaching aids tell not only about their subject but also about a time when learning was still on the wall.
Hans Pertlwieser (1905-1996) was an Austrian illustrator who created botanical school charts. His school chart of a beech tree shows the leaves and beechnuts in detail. The chart was used for science lessons in schools.
These beautiful, unique school posters may show signs of wear and tear. We strive to capture these as accurately as possible in our photos.
Colors may differ from the photos in real life.
