Beautiful old ointment jars with a wonderful patina. Ideal for use in the kitchen, for example, to store tea.
We have three in stock, each with its own order number. If you want all three, that's also possible; the set also has its own number.
Earthenware ointment jars were once common containers for storing ointments, creams, and other apothecary products. They were usually made of fired clay and glazed to better protect the contents from moisture and spoilage.
In the 18th and 19th centuries, these jars were often used and had a simple shape with a loose lid, while others were sealed with parchment or wax to extend their shelf life.
French and English ointment jars were sometimes provided with decorations, stamps or inscriptions indicating the name of the pharmacy or the contents.
